With all the different breakfast spots in and around the city, it’s hard to pick just one to try. I’m always down to get your traditional pancake and hash browns type breakfast but sometimes, you crave something a little different.

The London Plane offers you an experience that took me back to a few cafes I went to in Paris. The feeling was welcoming and fresh. With floor to ceiling windows, the natural lighting brightens up the whole shop. Everything is so open. I love that kind of concept. Especially for a cafe. You don’t feel cramped or suffocated by the lack of space. The open layout allows you to breath, take a sip of your coffee, and enjoy the beauty of the shop while peering out of the window and seeing the historic buildings in Pioneer Square.

I honestly had no idea what to expect when I came but that’s the fun part about trying somewhere new. Don’t let the name fool you. You won’t be finding any crumpets or bangers and mash at this establishment. What you will find is fresh baked pastries and a taste of the Mediterranean. This places uses ingredients and vegetables that aren’t commonly used in a regular breakfast fare but I couldn't have been happier. You can taste the herbs and the freshness that each dish brings. My dish was called the Green Goddess. Even though it may look like an avocado toast, it actually is a herbed tahini sauce with roasted mushrooms. Hands down, this is probably one of my breakfast dishes I have had. The herbed sauce is so good. I would put that on a salad or just on other vegetable and I would devour it. So light and refreshing. You won’t feel that heaviness you get after eating a heavy dish!

Before we even got our main dish, how did I forget to mention the delicious croissant we ordered! They were fresh and warm, right out out of the oven. The flakiness of the crust is to die for and the inside was buttery and soft. Keep in mind, it’s only one croissant per order so if you want to keep this precious gem all to yourself and not have to share with your table mate, I suggest you order 2 :)

London Plane isn’t just a sit down restaurant but they offer to-go options such as flowers, coffee and pastries too! The beautiful arrangements offer a little extra something to the space and it really makes you feel some type of way. I don’t know about you but something about these unique flowers versus the bouquets you see at the market gives me butterflies in my stomach.

This place is definitely on my top 5 places for breakfast. It’s simple, cool, and unique. After brunch, you can grab something to go and go for a stroll on the red brick walk way and take in the architecture of Pioneer Square. I have lived in Seattle my whole life and forget we have little gems like this that give us history.

So if you’re in need of brunch plans and want to venture out of the normal breakfast fares, take a trip to London Plane! Highly suggest making reservations if you can because this place can get very busy! :) Happy eating foodie friends,

With Love,

Niki
